Caught the Aurora Australis by accident!

Sunset and Milky Way over the infamous Mt Geryon - one of Tasmania's most amazing mountains.

Overnight bushwalk/hike.

Cheers, Ben.

I enjoy your videos perhaps because I’m not having to bush bash off track in Tasmania. Great filming and editing. Lakes and rock mountains make some beautiful scenes.
I was wondering at first why some one would mark the summit with a small “can” and then it dawned on me! :D Did you get to actually see the aurora?

Heheh yes, "cairn" is "can". Australians and the english language... ;-)

No, I was tucked in and fast asleep about 50m down the side of the mountain, hehe! Set the Insta360 with a 10,000mAh battery pack and left it to do its thing. Honestly didn't have high hopes for a nice starry sky, as the weather started to cloud in just after sunset. Woke at about 2am to the tent flapping as the wind picked up and noticed a clear sky, and thought "oh, might get something after all". Was literally giddy with excitement to have caught the Aurora too. Only ever caught one in person before, that was also purely coincidence.

Cheers, Ben.
