Post subject:  Export 4k video on iPad with small storage

I'm currently using iPad Pro 11" 64GB and only have around 10GB free on it. Due to lack of storage I cannot export my video in high resolution which needs about 48GB.

Is there any workaround for Lumafusion working on small storage devices? I'm wondering if I can:
  • Export video directly to external storage, such as NAS, Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, Youtube, without compiling local temp file first?
  • Move all my source to external storage and not duplicate it on local storage?
Any workaround is welcome. It'd be great if Lumafusion can work totally with external storage since it's a mobile editor.

Hi howar31

Welcome to the forum

Yes you can now export to external sources with IOS13

I exported a completed project to my Synology NAS this morning

At the moment your media to be edited will need to be stored locally too

I've tried to export the video to my NAS but seems like it's still trying to create a local temp file which is 48GB on my iPad first. And the export aborted while my iPad running out of storage.

If Lumafusion create local temp file first, then there will be no difference where the video is exported to, even if it's an external storage.

Yes, LF does have to create the file locally first

EDIT: You could try duplicating the project and splitting it into 2 parts. Then export each part separately and join them afterwards

I know that's not ideal, but that's how I would try it if I was short on space
