I posted about this some time ago but I used the technique again today for a badly wandering handheld telephoto shot (a tiny bird on top of a tree which insisted on flitting about so I had no time to settle the camera). It worked so well that I really want to tell people about this method again!
1. Correct larger camera movements with
key frames on an upsized clip to avoid going out of frame.
2. Do not stabilise! Export and reimport the reframed clip.
3. Then apply stabilisation to the new version. Use shutter correction
