It is best to use raw materials for editing video and audio in lossless formats. Wave and AIFF are audio formats without compression, so they are most preferable in terms of the highest possible quality of the source material. But the size of the source file at the same time will be maximum.
If space for editing is limited in size, then it is better to use a lossless compression format: .m4a ALAC.
From lossy compression formats, it is better to use .m4a AAC.
Quote:
Designed to be the successor of the MP3 format, AAC generally achieves better sound quality than MP3 at the same bit rate
The .mp3 format is a lossy compressed audio. Therefore .mp3 is the least preferred source material.

Hi all,
I am having the same or similar issue. I exported my project as audio only 48K. I did some editing on said audio using the app wavepad. I exported the audio as 48K from Wavepad and imported into my project as a separate audio track. I raised the volume of said track. It sounds good previewing the video in Lumafusion. I then exported the video to the Files app on my iPad Pro. Playing said file the audio is way lower than playing the same video in Lumafusion. I don't think it is anything to do with imported Bitrates Etc. On my end. I think, it is some bug in Lumafusion.

I just downloaded the iPad app called AudioFix Pro. This app is $20. Unlimited use. I know a little pricey. AudioFIx non pro version. Is a subscription based service. You could use it for one month for $4.99. It did the job for me and was pretty quick at performing the task. It also raised the volume much loader than even adjusting the volume in LumaFusion. I have not checked of any other Apps. Maybe there is another cheeper option.
