LumaFusion 2.0 is now available in the App Store. This is a massive new update that doubles the number of tracks for video and audio, streamlines the user interface, and much more.

Yeah, that is my guess at this point as I can still edit 4K for example. In fact, it's only been recent that iPhones can display 4K and I assume people have been editing 4K on the LumaFusion app before that on iPhones.

OK so I shot a bunch of 4K video today and all the 4K clips crashed the app. I don't know if it's something that can be fixed in an update or if I'm stuck with only 1080p video.

What did you shoot the 4K on, it shouldn’t crash the app. On an old device it will slow it down but it shouldn’t crash it. It’s designed to be able to edit 4K

Can you delete and reinstall the app?

Note: you WILL lose any projects you haven’t got backed up if you do that

Video was recorded in FiLMic Pro Android version at 4K, 24fps, FiLMic Quality Extreme. Reinstalled LumaFusion. Still had issues with videos crashing app. Also noticed that audio seemed compressed to half the video length or perhaps the audio was cut 1/2 way through video. Went back to Handbrake and use a quality setting with a constant bit rate and framerate then converted file still at 4K. Resulting file was about 1/2 the Mb of original. Imported that to LumaFusion. Still got the error about compatibility but seemed to be able to edit the video fine. Imported second video clip to the same project using the same method and still everything was fine. Third video import to project and started editing and LumaFusion crashed. I was able to reopen LumaFusion and the project was still there. Was able to do some more edits. I noticed transitions had issues rendering on the timeline. Do not know what will trigger another crash while editing.

So it seems that the only stability I get is with 1080p files not 4K.

Mmmm ... strange ... that shouldn't happen (obviously)

What version of the app are you using (I suspect it's the latest but can you provide the full version number please)?

What version of IOS?

Can you upload a small clip anywhere so I can try it this end?

OK so support told me that iPad Air will not handle a 4K video file for editing. That seems pretty much it for that. I'm running 1.7.6.877. iOS 12.1.4.

OK so on a hunch I converted 4K footage to 1440p, which is Youtube's second highest resolution option, and imported that to LumaFusion. That worked fine, I even brought in a few more video clips like that and had no issues. So I edited up a little video with titles and transitions and all then I went to export... :|

It won't let me export at anything higher than 1080p! I couldn't believe it! Finally got a UHD video going which suits my needs for Youtube uploads and I can't even export the video unless I downconvert to 1080p. I'm just beyond frustrated right now.

I’d believe what support have told you

I will still try it on my old Air when I travel east in a month or so
