I’ve just been seeing over the last decade that every time Apple beefs up their processors or batteries they implement so much new stuff in the OS like faster displays, physics engines for their animations, parallax effects on the home screen etc. that probably eats up more of the performance than they actually gain with their updates
I’m not sure how much is effectively left for 3rd parties or the end user!
The iPad 12.9” from 2017 still stutters when flipping through long list views in the Settings and Photos app despite having a 120Hz display, and the like...
