LumaFusion 1.7 is now available in the App Store. This update includes great new features like search and sort in the library, soft edges and curved corners in cropping, and our new integration with Storyblocks, a great royalty-free library of video, audio and sound effects. A sample of clips are included free, with a low-cost subscription available in-app for access to the full library

Looking to start editing footage on my iPad with LumaFusion

I will be recording video on GoPro mostly and plan to use the GoPro Quik key/SD card reader to view my footage

Do I have to import the video files onto the iPad before editing or can they remain on the SD card so to not use up the limited space on the iPad memeory

Hi Samwallace86

Welcome to the forum

You will need to import the files first

.. Good things come to those who wait

One option I found helps with GoPro > iPad > Lumafusion workflow is to first use the GoPro app. It will wifi to the GoPro and let you preview video (at a low resolution). If you want to delete certain files form the GoPro, or be selective about importing, then the GoPro app can help with that.

I to prefer to get files of the SD card using a card reader on the iPad. GoPro wifi is just too slow for 4k files. So I will sometimes use the Gopro app just to preview and delete files *before* I then use the card reader.

Hello Jepullen

thanks for sharing your workflow with us.

Are you backing up your SD footage anywhere else besides the iPad?
