Don't think you will find a flush extender as of today. Maybe in the future. The only other recommendation I can make is to take a dremel tool to it and carefully cut the opening to match the device of your choice.

Does anyone know how to verify that an external microphone is being used correctly in the app? I’ve got a wireless MikMe microphone that is connected to my iPad Pro. When I speak, I can’t tell if the app is actually recording from the external wireless BlueTooth mic or the internal one. I’m guessing by quality of sound that it is working.

I see no way to select input sources within the app.

Thanks,

Kent

Hello Kent,

This maybe of some use to you.
Then again I suspect you have a none audio jack in the iPad your using ?
( Apple will of course provide an adapter to an adapter to adapt the mic to the iPad)

I use a audio jack so mine is a physical connection.
However I had issues with the mic after 18 months.
Similar situation to your self. (how can I tell what is working other than the sound)

Here is what I did.
You can increase the gain and sample rate here, also talk into the mic your using.
As it is blue tooth why not switch on screen record and walk next door.
Come back stop screen recording and listen to.
I am in the next room talking softly.

Regards Rob

Thanks, Rob. I appreciate your time in answering.

I managed to figure out how to get it to work over USB and an Apple Camera Connection Kit. Unfortunately, with the Lightning power connected, this introduces a slight but annoying 60 cycle ground hum noise. The in-built Luma Fusion High-Pass filter isn’t steep enough to curb this without thinning my voice out too much.

Nevertheless, it works via the cable and I can at least do the voiceover on battery power, I think.

I’d really like to get it to work over BT and hope someone has an answer. A selector within the Luma software would be nice.

Side Question, will Luma Fusion support Audio Units for effects? I don’t see it in the manual and it would be a massive upgrade over what is provided natively in the Luma Fusion app.

Kent here is an idea that maybe work for you.
App HOKUSAI.

They have 2 apps for audio.
One for blogging etc called Ferrite.

They have more built in audio facilities available.
Not the best solution, here is what I do.
Plug in mic to phone record voice within Hokusai.

Regards Rob

Thanks, Rob. I'll give that a shot too.

I heard from Luma Support. Here is what they had to say on the matter:

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry for the delay. I was waiting for a response from a team member.

Here’s a response from one of our developers...

”The MikMe doesn't work like a normal Bluetooth microphone that just shows up in iOS (so it also won't work in any other software except the MikMe app). However, we are in touch with the MikMe folks and hope to integrate it directly in the future.”
===

I suspect that native and direct support won't come as I'm a rather cynical person. It sure would be nice though.

Interesting ideas Kent,

Has me thinking again.
This year I was about to up date IPP 1st gen to IPP 3
What puts me off is the fact all physical inputs such as a mic would become redundant.

The mic, if I update the iPad i would update mic to blue tooth .
then again I had not thought it would be app restricted.
I was more concerned about delays and lags in recording.

I can tell you a sennheiser Bluetooth headphones work in LumaFusion. (has mic)
What happens when you try ?
I re try tomorrow for you using Bluetooth to confirm as a lot of updates have occurred since I last tried.

The mike me looks good quality shame not to use it.

Regards Rob

Had a play around today with SENNHEISER headphones.
Blue tooth adjustments not available.
Hardwired will allow access to these adjustments.

Video here for examples of audio clarity.
Kent which sounds clearer to you ?

Regards Rob

Definitely the hardwired, Rob. The BT connection sounds like a completely different input source.

The quality that I'm getting with the MikMe over USB is fine. It's the same capsule as what is in the AKG C214 and that quality shows here. It would be much more convenient to use it over BT but it isn't strictly necessary.

As I move forward with my voiceover work, I'll probably go back to one of my standard studio mics and an analog channel strip of some sort, but this will suffice for now.

Thanks for putting up the video. It's very revealing.
