Hi all,

I’ve noticed that when I “optimize and consolidate” my HEVC videos are converted to H264. Is this how optimize behaves for others? It seems counterproductive.

If it makes your media 'work' which is the reason for using 'Optimise' does it matter though?

Im asking because I actually find optimize does little to help with editing and the finished product and in fact I mostly find it makes transitions lag, and causes playback issues. I would like to understand more about what optimize actually does so I can understand when and why to use it. That’s why I’m asking about this conversion. From what I understand, H264 is less efficient for editing 4K footage compared to HEVC.

Some media is 'playable' on an iThing but is not compatible with many iOS routines

What is your footage from?

Hi Dave,

My footage comes mostly from filmic pro (4K HEVC) and Dji mavic mini (2.7k h.264). I often combine these in a project.

The DJI footage is not 100% compatible with iOS
