All,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Below is a link to a tutorial that shows how to create the Tilt Shift effect in LumaFusion.

Tilt Shift is an effect produced optically by special lenses that allow setting a narrow focal plane. This way only a small area of the image is in focus while the rest, foreground and background, appear blurred and out of focus. Tilt Shift lenses can be used to create an effect where the objects in focus appear as if they were miniatures or toys.
The effect can be simulated digitally and in this tutorial I will show you how to do that in LumaFusion.

Stay safe,
MVE

Good video. One of the only effects I’d use because it’s something like the way the human eye operates and therefore when done subtly it makes the scene seem more real. I realise of course that unreal is popular so crank it up if you like :D

Thanks Mark!
I agree with you. As part of my research I applied the effect more subtly than what you see in the tutorial with very interesting results. I did that for some of the boats scenes you see at the beginning of the clip. It is just a matter of applying less blur.
That footage didn’t make it into the video because I was aiming for the fake miniature effect.
