Last year Johns Hopkins received FDA approval to begin studying the use of Psilocybin Mushrooms for addiction, depression, and end of life anxiety. Psilocybin had been outlawed in the U.S. since 1980 as a controlled drug. This research combined with me watching too many Terence McKenna YT videos led to this video.
I used one layer of Moodscaper as the orchestral foundation for the beginning and end of this video. I applied reverb from AD480 and Crystalline along with Wider Touch in MultitrackDAW for more stereo separation. I then took this Moodscaper audio track and copied it to two audio tracks in LumaFusion where I added some Low Pass filtering. I moved the second Moodscaper track over in LumaFusion about 15 seconds. The result is a softer, more diffuse ambient sound than just a single, solo Moodscaper track.
After the Moodscaper introduction, I faded the two Moodscaper tracks out while bringing in various layers of Waldorf Nave and LayR for some arp tracks. I panned two of these tracks back and forth throughout the video for additional movement. For the ending I faded the Nave and LayR tracks out while bringing the two Moodscaper tracks back in.
I used custom objects in Pixite’s Matter for the first two minutes of the video. The obj format model, Organodron City, is what gives the initial imagery the mushroom cap illusion.
The video track uses imagery run through Rollworld and brought back into LumaFusion where effects such as Big Pinch, Mirror, Zoom, Circular, Keyframed colorization, and dissolve transitions were applied. Sometimes I used the left half of the Rollworld video clip to mirror instead of the right half in LF. Other times I reversed the direction of the Rollworld clips to achieve continuous visual depth direction.
I hope you enjoy watching and listening!
