Hey all,

I don’t know about the rest of you but LumaFusion is something I’ve dreamed about since owning my first iPad and after 18 months of using it I’m still blown away by its functionality, stability and frequent updates.

I don’t think I’ve felt this kind of ‘desktop’ app quality from any other apps and was wondering if you fine folks had come across any.

I use Ferrite Studio for podcast audio editing and its excellent and powerful but still doesn’t quite rival desktop software like Luma does.

Affinity Photo is the best Photoshop-alternative I’ve used so far but is very buggy and I think mostly optimised for very high-spec iPads.

Rough Animator is not a pretty app by current standards but I strongly recommend it for anyone who finds most iOS animation apps to be too simple and lacking in features.

What apps have you used that near the quality you’d expect of desktop software?

I think you probably know the answer to this. LumaFusion is a standout holding a fine line between usability and features. Whilst it still looks very similar to the original I used many years ago (and runs on the phone too!) it has steadily added lots of features. A credit to the developers considering the complexity of video and I’ll love them forever for not going down the subscription road.

One that I like is Video LUT. I do a lot of underwater colour grading that LF just can’t handle. I used to have to make some edits in DaVinci Resolve and export the LUT to LF. Now I can do that in Video LUT, it has all the colour grading tools you need. You can either export the graded video (at 100 mbps) or export the LUT to LF. Now I can do full colour grading and video editing on my phone/iPad.

I think it’s about $6.

That sounds excellent, thanks for the recommendation!

Cool. Anyone come across an App that lets you create a complex mask (rotoscoping, with keyframes) that can then be brought into LumaFusion (to overcome LumaFusion's limitations when it comes to masking)?

TIA
