Question from inexperienced:
If I shoot a movie with these settings, 1080p / 25 fps / 50 shutter, iso 100, with nd filters, then I go to speed up the movie to 1.50, could it be that it seems to go jerky? This doesn't happen at regular speed! the shots can be seen even after export! I also recorded at 60 fps yesterday, the same actions, in a 60 fps timeline, if I speed up the movie, here it is nice smooth, if instead I put the 60 fps video in a new 25/30 fps timeline and I always speed up to 1.50, this seems to go in jerks, can you tell me why? sorry my english, i am using google ... Thanks everyone!
you can see the problem here at second 53 ... https://youtu.be/Llbm_hA3VTg

Hi strommino

Welcome to the forum

I had similar problems when I started

I shot the video at 30 FPS on iPhone and rendered at 24 FPS for cinematic effect and wondered why it came out jerky

Try to keep the multiples to whole numbers (if that makes sense in google)

So 60 FPS use 120, 60, 30, 15

30 FPS use 60, 30, 15 but 24 gives a number with a fraction so the renderer has to add or drop frames which makes it jerky

but when I recorded at 25 fps, I accelerated the video and exported to 25 fps the shots are there too, the video in link is recorded at 25 fps and completed at 25 fps ... why does it happen?

How fast did you accelerate the video?

That bit will have a different frame rate

If you accelerate it by 50% it will drop 50% of the frames

If you slow it by 50 it will duplicate 50% of the frames

So shooting the original at 25 fps and increasing the speed by 1.5 will give you 18.25 frames in a 25 fps timeline = jerkiness because you can't have fractions of a frame

I can’t tell you what is best because that’s down to you

But based on what you’ve said

I would shoot at 60 FPS and use a 30 FPS timeline
Speed up 1.5x will use 30 frames
Speed up 2x will use 15 frames
That gives ‘whole’ numbers = less jerky

Try other combinations but make sure you get ‘whole numbers’

it's just as you wrote! So if you wanted to do a 25 fps project to get motion blur, it's a real problem, because finding the right framerate by accelerating and having integers is almost impossible, only if you accelerate to 2x you can get the right division with integers ... but if I insert a clip at 60 fps, in a 25 fps project, how should I calculate the framerate, since the project is at 25 fps? thanks again for your help! you are very kind!
