I mainly film in 720p that’s due to all my devices can match this scale.
Plus easy to edit render. Most view from a tablet/ phone. IE tiny screens.

Last year I updated some of the cameras for my work.
The newer cameras lowest setting is 1080p.
So set all the others to 1080p.
End of the day all my videos work wise are posted on YouTube.

Just wondering how you all manage your settings ?

Hi Rob

The best setting is the setting that you like and most of your viewers are probably going to be able to use

Don't crank everything up to maximum 'just because it goes to it'

Thank you Dave,

Always difficult to know what people use these days.
Personally I use, cast to big TV.

Pole on the Internet suggests most users out there, while having breakfast listing to the wife, while watching YouTube, on a hand held screen, be it a phone or small tablet.

So I guess 1080 good enough, not as if I am looking for polished video work.
I just knock them out as quick as I can before the next onslaught of good weather.

Wheres that gone then :)

At the end of the road here in Brighton, it is good for swimming past week and coming weeks, flat waters and good for speed.

Regards Rob

1080 will keep the file size reasonable too

I always use the bitrate settings of this "Recommended upload encoding settings" from Google, to get the best results on YouTube:

That is a very useful link Jawa85.
Booked marked and have read through thank you.

If I may Jawa85, do you have any apps you have used to convert pro res into formats which I can use in lumafusion ?
By this I mean involve IOS only and no desktop program like hand brake - mpeg stream clip.

Regards Rob

I used to export 1080p24 at 25-50Mbit but like many others discovered that YouTube's industrial strength compression is less vicious if you give it a 4K file... even if the end user playback is at 1080, the resultant video is still a bit cleaner, less artifacts and blocking.

Most of my source material is 4K anyway, output at MPG or H.264 around 50-75Mbit usually works though occasionally with longer timelines (15+mins) LumaFusion will crash during export and I need to bump down the bitrate. I am using an iPad Gen 6 though which is hardly grunty hardware though.
