Thank you for the heads up Rob.
Can you give me a link of the product so that I can have a visual reference in the future.

Cheers!

Good luck ngeyobslash,

If helps any, i was in the same position as yourself.
I had asked many of my contacts who film at professional level.
Most said, Rob in your job it is so un controlled environment we think nothing will work which is easy and quick to set up.

Local I.T man I know showed me a video he made to promote his business.
Sounds so clear I was blown away.

He picked up his phone and Boya mic with 2 meter lead.
I said that’s it ?
Well tripod was used for the phone he said.
Later he added, that he been to elocutions lessons, helps a great deal later at the listeners end.

Think of radio 4 and world service, very clear easy to understand.
In wind outside they are not ngeyobslash.
Looking forwards to your results.

Regards Rob

Thank you Rob,

I made a video using an iphone 5s and a Rode VideoMicMe.

https://youtu.be/ljHu04-nykg

Even with the dead cat that is included with the rode mic, the videos with wind are very audible.
So in the video I did not include the ambient of the cacao trees anymore and recorded another set and cleaned it with brusfri.

When I get the chance I will try the Boya lav mic.

Is it still a good mic for field recordings?

I shoot often in the streets and ambush situations and might not find the time to set it up. But if you say that I just point the lav up to my target and I am good to go, that might be awesome.

Cheers!

Difficult to say as the situation for the mic or any recording is prep work.
The areas I would use the microphone are,

Person has there back to wind, I clip the mic on them they talk, wind noise none as the mic on the front of there jacket.
(environment is at take off on a paragliding launch 12 mph wind, think you are in the Philippines? Kind of less wind)

You could hold the mic towards your source, but do not forget the cable attached to your camera source.
Regards Rob

It is very good I have come across this thread. I have been always thinking that there is only one way to remove the wind noise from the video. I thought you need to remove sound completely, and then add voice or music accompaniment you like. But I see there are other options. I am currently making a video about China population. So I will need these hints for sure for my work.
