In the recent competition which we can all enter here , you have seen this I hope ? {Winner earns a selective prize} One of the questions that I asked myself afterwards, making my video for the competition here in LF, was when my wife Kaori asked. Did you place the music and then the images ? Or the other way round? Made me think about, how I did make the video, for me it is more a feeling not a mechanical method. To some degree I say I go into a trance and time is slowed down and I literally flow the images onto the screen, like a person writing a letter, apply feelings and emotions. And yes I would say the music came first. So how about you gang ? What and how does it evolve for yourself to make a film / video ? I watched a 1974 video of Sinbad today, the stop motion methods which include of course shadows are incredible. Most would say very tacky but I say with a smile the camera angles are perfect. Other films like this one here for me ask the biggest questions you can ask, by using video to tell a story yet ask that question. Without the need to bring religion into the scene, very clever ideas. Ideas in a film have no limits, for me this is video, ideas brought to life. |

You’re a real artist Rob. I’m sure going with the flow is best. I’m usually a bit rushed and trying to get my video done as fast as possible. Too many clips. Not enough time. I usually add the clips first and then music but it probably is better the other way round. Select a music track, edit it to a good length, then fit clips into the beats/mood. |
