LumaFusion 1.7 is now available in the App Store. This update includes great new features like search and sort in the library, soft edges and curved corners in cropping, and our new integration with Storyblocks, a great royalty-free library of video, audio and sound effects. A sample of clips are included free, with a low-cost subscription available in-app for access to the full library

No.
In my opinion it’s slightly easier to exactly tap on smaller controls and position things with the pencil but I hardly ever find myself bothering to pick it up in LumaFusion.

It's not necessary - but I've come to greatly prefer it after using it almost exclusively for a few weeks (I injured my primary index finger so I'm trying to lay off of mousing/trackpadding and I find using the pencil seems to feel natural while not aggravating my injury)

I start with why have you raised the question Fargo?

Are you considering purchasing a pen ?

For me I use the keyboard for frame by frame, shorts cuts speeds up editing etc, the pen I use for 89% while in LumaFusion, espically with the increments in adjustments while positioning items.

Big fingers are not as accurate as a pen.

I use the pen a lot drag and drop items, for me quicker cleaner end of the day it be down to your personal needs.

Suggest pop into a Apple store and sit and play it give you a feel at least in the physical sense.
No LumaFusion will be on iPads in the store, just iMovie as standard. (LumaFusion theirs an idea part of iOS built in upon purchase every iPad Pro has LumaFusion as standard in store)

Outside of LumaFusion if you have a iPad Pro ?

Not having a pen really in own personal view defeats the idea, it is a tablet for creating ideas like pen and paper you can draw, animate and so on.
