LumaFusion 1.7 is now available in the App Store. This update includes great new features like search and sort in the library, soft edges and curved corners in cropping, and our new integration with Storyblocks, a great royalty-free library of video, audio and sound effects. A sample of clips are included free, with a low-cost subscription available in-app for access to the full library

So, the idea with the Gnarbox is that I can preview video, select in/out points and then only import the selected part of the clip onto my iphone.

When I do this however, the ENTIRE clip is being imported. This means that if I select multiple 3 or 4 second clips from a single gopro file, Lumafusion is importing the entire 4gb file to my phone for EACH CLIP, resulting in a massive data dump filling up my iphone, and eating up a ton of time for the import.

Can anyone help me?

Suggestion for this one:

Let the developers know directly using

support page at https://luma-touch.com/support.

Thanks, I have already contacted Luma directly, and was hoping someone could help me quicker as I'm preparing to leave for a trip. Is anyone using Gnarbox and seeing it work correctly (meaning only downloading the parts of the clips you select to the iphone)?

Well, I've yet to hear back from LumaFusion, but Gnarbox has been very responsive, and were able to get in touch with the Lumafusion people. According to Gnarbox, this is a known bug that Lumafusion has not been able to fix yet. They are taking copies of my files to see if they can duplicate the error to figure out a software patch : (

So, now I've got to see if they can resolve this before my 30 day return policy expires, because without the ability to edit on the phone there's really no reason to keep the Gnarbox...

Hello Mike,

Great write up by the way, really helpful to myself.

I nearly bought (on line no refund) WD passport then found out it only imports the whole clip.

Then was told about the marked in and outs of gnarbox, now I sold on the item.
However your not having this experience with the gnarbox.

Question do you have the same when using an iPad ?

Regards Rob

I don't have an iPad, so I can't confirm whether it would have the same issue or not. Lumavision has been able to reproduce the error using my files, so I'm hopeful that they can resolve the issue quickly. Really excited about the potential for the Gnarbox once I get this resolved.

BTW: If you're ever looking to purchase electronics online I recommend you check out B&H Photo. They are super helpful, have great prices, free overnight shipping, and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. I've had only good experiences with them: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/

thank you if you have the time and come across anyone with an iPad I be interested.

I run a paragliding school and when away students can at best give me SD cards and I edit once home.
So loading video on site while away for a week and edit on the fly would be a bonus.

Thank you for the link are you maybe in the USA ?

I here in UK , gnarebox not an everyday sold item so this 30 days refund would suit.

they have live chat I see what they say.

Regards Rob

Update:

I am now in contact with Lumatouch developers who have confirmed that this is a known bug in the software. They are currently working to fix it for the next software update (I do not have a timeframe for that yet).

So, for now- anyone wishing to use a Gnarbox with Lumafusion in the manner described on the website (where only the footage you add to your timeline is imported onto the phone) is out of luck. Hopefully this is resolved quickly.
