I’ve been adding these video cross-audio cut transitions and they have been giving me brief complete audio cut outs or some kind of harshness that sounds like the audio drops completely for a frame or more. No matter how I lengthen or shorten. I don’t hear it during the editing process but when I export out it’s bad... so I’ve had to delete every one and simply just not use them...

Also audio sync is horrid now. at 8 mins or so on the exported file it’s all over the place. It comes back into sync for brief moment and then goes out of again.

Could it be my file types? I just found a system that is working for me so I hope that isn’t the case. It seems like the earlier version didn’t have that issue. I’m using a canon M6 that makes mp4 files...

Here’s my effected video: https://youtu.be/iCtbD0eJ6WU

(Looking at the audio sync issue closer, I wonder if it’s YouTube, cause now it seems better playing the video again. I apologize if that is the case. I need to re examine the mastered file... video things can get pretty irritating sometime and I don’t want to jump the gun)

Thanks

Paul

Hello PaulDGreen

thanks for sharing that video, I really enjoyed it.

I do notice in your video the out of sync issues that you describe.

What output settings did you use for the video you put up on Youtube?

Here is an FAQ regarding what to do in this situation. Hopefully this will help with sync and the audio problems from the transitions.

Just tried the consolidate option with no success unfortunately.

Mid way in my video it slips out of sync and then resumes.. same place it had the problem before. I uploaded it without quality checking it which I usually fail to do ☹️

You can see it here starting at 7:30 https://youtu.be/zNMN20MiZ-U

Just edited a new video with the new update. I was excited that the videocut-audiocross transition seems to have been fixed, thanks!

The sync problems seem to continue however. Its sad that the played timeline is not the same as my final mastered video. I am trying to cut to the beat on a track and it doesn't quite line up. making my video look amateur and pretty uninteresting in my opinion. I will keep trying things. So far I have consolidated and it has got it a tiny bit closer to sync with my music track... Now I will try maybe upping the output quality?

Im going to up the quality to 32Mbps... hmm, and my resolution was at 1440p (2560 x 1440) automatically for some odd reason. wonder why that is. did it detect graphics and automatically set it higher than my native video at 1920?

Im hoping to think outloud and if anyone has similar problems I can at least have them down in writing...

New update with my audio sync issues:

It has taken me quite a while to figure this out but I have... Not sure why it took so long but I should have known because all my years of editing in Final Cut Pro 7 has taught me this and I learned it all over again with LumaTouch.

My issue has been that I could not edit to music by cutting on beats, it appeared off sometimes. The solution was simple for me. Editing music files that are .wav appear the exact same in the final rendered movie as they do on the time line whilst playing.

Video appeared to cut with the music while in the Luma' timeline on playback, but once I would render out a final mastered file no matter what the settings were or even if the project was consolidated it would either be too early on cuts or too late, making my work look sloppy and really amateur.

Transferring any audio file that was .m4a into .wav, then replacing it on the timeline would solve it. I DID have to tweak the cut points about a frame or two here and there, but the rendered file would appear the same on playback as it did in the rendered out file.

So happy I was able to figure out this troubleshoot!

Does this make sense? hope that can help anyone else out with the same problem. :D

Hi there, this is my forgotten thread I suppose I'll keep updating on this issue.

So from the last time where I mentioned that .wav's have fixed most of my editing to the beat sync issues apposed to the .m4a's from iTunes, there were still a few issues for some reason where the music would not render out on the beat with one of my edits, HOWEVER, most instances WERE fixed.... Randomly I tried rendering out in 44.1khz instead of 48khz and that was yet another problem solved, not sure how or why but it worked...

So if you're having audio sync problems where you can't get your video to match up with beats and timing of your music, try converting all your music to .wav files and render out in 44.1khz.

(P.S. Oh, make sure you pay attention to all your frame rates too and have them matched up for less hassle ;) )

Thank you that is all.

Hi PaulDGreen

It's not a forgotten thread just because you don't get a reply - keep reporting issues please, it really does help

It's only a small team (although it's grown a bit recently) and coupled with 'shows' and 'independence day' in the USofA recently things sometimes get missed/a bit behind

Thanks for the update!

I have an obvious update result in lost audio sync upon mastering out a video.

Avoid frame rate changes in different video clips. I cut together a vlog and sometimes use my phone along with my canon camera.

The plain and simple truth is that sync goes wild when frame rates mix on the same timeline.

Example, 23.98 and 30... No beuno.

Thanks for reporting your findings on this. I have similar experiences with losing sync with a music track if I use any audio cross fades and sync is fine if I don’t use them.

Having big problems with audio sync today :( didnt think this would be back. Very frustrated yet again. Ive consolidated ive checked frame rates, kilohertz rates. The only thing I can attribute it to is a possible bad video file due to a cheap SD card I was recording to. ( I wasn't aware it was such a cheap card till the camera started erroring.

The thing is on the timeline, EVERYTHING is in sync. Also my audio dissolve transitions keep cutting in the wrong place on the handles of the video, its definitely not frame accurate.

Sooooooooo frustrated, I have been editing this on an off for a week now to basically have nothing good to show for it.

     :( :( :( :(
