LumaFusion 1.7 is now available in the App Store. This update includes great new features like search and sort in the library, soft edges and curved corners in cropping, and our new integration with Storyblocks, a great royalty-free library of video, audio and sound effects. A sample of clips are included free, with a low-cost subscription available in-app for access to the full library

Hi. I apologize ahead of time for my extreme lack of film editing knowledge. So for every 30 minutes of raw footage from a GoPro, Mavic, and iPhone, I’ll get about 3 minutes of usable material spread out over something like 20 trimmed clips. I would really like to do all that trimming, save the clips in a folder, and then delete the other 27 min of “dead weight” well before I get to the project edit stage.

I’ve been told that is something like “bins” in Adobe Premier. Is there anything close to this in LF or another IOS app that I can use? Thanks!

Hello Dspace

You could use another of our apps called LumaClip, which is free, and use that to copy the parts of the longer clips that you want to use.
This can be done with LumaFusion too. The big difference between them is LumaClip can only access media from the Photos app.

After creating the sub-clips from the master clip, you would delete the master clip. I would advise backing up the master clip somewhere, just in case.

Hope this helps

Thanks! I just downloaded LumaClip and will try that first since I am just using the IPad Pro Photo’s app as The current film roll location.

I assume for LF I would just take trimmed clips I want, drop them into the timeline, render and save them individually? Or am I missing something?

Update: So I’ve been using Luma Clip to trim each raw vid and save into a specific folder. Only slow part of the process is having to re-import the raw vid into Luma Clip after eached trimmed clip export. Would be nice if the raw vid just remained after the export (unless I’m missing something).

Also wondering if there is some quality loss in what amounts to a re-rendering process, once to trim and once for the final edit?

Oh well, it’s a great app for a novice like me. Hope it keeps evolving
