I just bought LumaFusion, and are trying to learn it.
I am doing a video of still Photos, and I am using the zoom and pan options on the Photo to create a movie effect.
There are some really great possibilities compared to Pinnacle.

But the quality of the Photo appears to be very low - they look very grainy and unsharp.
I did not have that problem with Pinnacle - here they look great.

I tried to export the project as a mp4-movie, but the photos still has the low quality.

What could be wrong? Is there some settings I can change?

Hi Mamifka

The quality of the finished item should be sharp (you knew that)

I do a lot of still frame 'slideshows' from my drone stills and they are as sharp as the originals

What are your output settings set to? Here are some of mine

I'm sure what you are doing is correct but can you tell us exactly how you are creating your slide show and what resolution you choosing for your output file (maybe show us a screen grab or two?)

Also, remember the size of your final file vs the zoom ratio matters a lot!

For example if you have a 3840 x 2160 image, and your export is 1920x1080 then you can zoom in to 2 times the size and not loose any quality.

If however you export at 4K you cannot zoom in at all since 4K is 3840 x 2160 so if you zoom in to pan around then you are blowing up pixels in your photo to do so.

So in this case, bigger is not better at all.

Let us know your details for your photos and your export so we can help figure out the best workflow for you.

Dave, I am having the same settings as you.
I am importing my jpg- files from my google drive.
Maybe it is in the importing process that the quality is degraded?
The jpg in the picture is 3216 x 1752, both in google drive and lumafusion, and as you can see it looks sharp when it is displayed in google drive, but in Lumafusion it is not the same quality, it is grainy.
And when I export as a movie, the image quality is still low.

Oh OK.

I'll send you a mail with log-in instructions for our box account. If you could do a Project Archive with media then we can take a look and see what's going wrong.

Hi Mamifka

I've just copied an image to google drive and imported it using the import function in LumaFusion

Other than the change in image size resolution:

Original 2048 × 1536 5.3 MB

Output 1920 × 1080 254 KB

I could not see any vast difference in sharpness :(

But clearly there's something going on your end so can you do as Terri has suggested

It looks like Chris has found the problem with Photos coming from the Photos app. He is fixing it today so it will be in the next update.

Hi Mamfika,

In LumaFusion's Settings, under Global Settings, can you check your 'Preview' setting. If it's not Best, change it to Best and see if that resolves the issue. You may need to close the app and restart it (double-click on the Home button and swipe up on LumaFusion's screenshot). If that doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know (also emailing you this info).

It should have been consistent for both Photos and imported images, and more importantly, it should have exported at full resolution regardless of the Preview setting.

We will fix these issues in the 1.3.3 update coming very soon.

Thank you very much for your help :)

It is better if the preview settings is set to Best, but I am looking forward to ver. 1.3.3

Thank for a great product and quick support.
