Here’s a free excerpt from Steve Stockman’s book “How to shoot video that doesn’t suck”

For all we are into the techie details here on the forum it’s not bad to be reminded that the content of your video is more important for a viewer than the fancy editing effects.

Having said that my travel videos don’t have a story line because I’m not willing to complicate the activity by preplanning or getting special shots. I mostly just try to keep the videos short, include people whenever possible and have some sort of general scene setting at the start and fade out at the end.

^Indeed.

I might be lost of the fancy tricks here because I am starting as an editor.

But I am thankful that I have a background in scriptwriting and apply those to editing.

A good book I read is cutting rhythms by karen pearlman and anything by this guy edits on youtube.

The tools might be different but the output or story is still king and integral.
