All,

The tutorial below shows how to spice up your videos by creating an endless variety of Custom Transitions in LumaFusion, each one, taking just minutes to make.

The idea is to create template images that contain gray-scale gradients. Then, by adjusting, Contrast, Gamma, Levels and Brightness, you can control the reveal of the template image, effectively creating an endless variation of Custom Transitions.
On top of that, each template can be modified further more by adding effects.

Please take a look.

That’s an impressive amount of work you’ve done there. I rarely use transitions but the method is very clever.

Thank you Mark!
I’ve put a lot of effort into this specific tutorial.
My goal was to provide as much information as possible in as little time as I could.

Really useful information, well presented!

I’d love to see LumaFusion allow the use of a greyscale image or video clip as a transparency map for another video clip; this would allow for soft edges on transitions like you’ve made here, and would also allow for some sophisticated compositing effects inside LF. The app Bricolage allows this kind of compositing, but its node-based interface can be a little daunting.

I really enjoy and get a lot out of your tutorials; I subscribe to your YouTube channel. Thank you so much for taking the time to make them!

May I ask a question about Bricolage. I would like to zoom in on my video clips but with the bottom of the picture expanding more than the top i.e. warping the frame from rectangular to trapezoidal
Edit: From reading the documentation probably not a Bricolage thing, but if anyone knows of some video warping app that isn’t just to make silly faces I’d be interested
