I’ve been playing around with a way of achieving the handwritten titles effect usually only possible with after effects or motion. Pretty nice results (please ignore the random clips, just background filler for the experiment...


It was achieved as follows:
1. In your image editor of choice (I’ve used affinity photo) set up a new canvas with a green screen background.
2. Start a screen recording using ios11’s built in screen recording feature.
3. Using the brush of your choosing start writing what you want to say on top of your chroma background.
4. Stop the screen recording to save the video.
5. You can now import the resultant video into your project and use the chroma key and cropping tools to give the desired result.

Hopefully someone will find that useful.

Awesome!! One thing I would do is speed up the video track of the writing.

Brilliant use of iOS’s new screen recording. I love this kind of sideways thinking about coming up with ways to do things on this platform!

Yeah, figured that too. I guess the slower it’s written the more options you have with speed later on.
