Affinity Photo got a good review in the Club Macstories newsletter. Haven't tried it myself because I long ago got bored with photo editing compared to video  (and also have Pixelmator if I need it).

"The power and complexity of Affinity Photo are evident from the first time you open an image: there are tools and sub-tools, menus and sub-menus galore. It could all be a little overwhelming were it not for two important items: the question mark button, and the app’s built-in tutorials."

I have both Pixelmator and Affinity Photo

I prefer Affinity, because it's a lot closer to Photoshop and also almost identical to their Mac version (which I also use).

Pixelmator is a simpler version (not at all like their desktop counterpart).

I find affinity easier to use even though it's a MUCH more powerfull program, simply because it feels more familiar.

Also they have tons of training videos on youtube: ... UYCxxCiE_e
