I am looking for an app that plays well with Luma Fusion that can copy the audio tracks from YouTube videos using my iPad. I am most interrested in old, public domain, Ragtime Piano and Bluegrass cuts for backing tracks for various video projects. There are numerous options in the iTunes Store, but I am looking for something someone has actually had some success with. Thanks so much.

If you have the youtube video on your ipad already, then you can just drag the video onto the audio layer and use the audio.

If you're looking for a direct way to get youtube videos onto your ipad then I use an app called "Documents 5" (now Documents6): ... 01807?mt=8

Open the browser in Documents and go here (I bookmark this site):

Chuck in the youtube clip and you can download it to documents app. When it's downloaded, goto the downloads folder and you can drag it across the filesystem of your ipad. Once its there, flick over to LumaFusion and you can pick it up and drag it onto an Audio layer.

Once you pull the file down and put it into LumaFusion, you could also then export just the audio to a new file if you plan on reusing it regularly.

Documents 6 and a little further education did the trick. I am officially dangerous. Thanks so much.

Been trying to come up with a way to get audio clips/songs into a usable folder on my iPad as well to use with Luma. I went and downloaded this Documents app and went to that save site mentioned, but nothing seems to download for me. It keeps telling me that the save site needs me to load a extension for it to work, but then says the extension is not compatible with the safari browser? Really don't know how to work this program, even after reading the help file twice! Wish there was a easy way to add audio files to the iPad without going through iTunes and a computer. I want to be able to use the iPad without having to download audio files from ITunes. I have a ton of my OWN music I would like to put on my IPad and then utilize for film but can't find a way to even get those audio files on my Ipad in the first place. Suggestions??

Hi Jimmy,
It all depends on where this ton of music is already stored. And what is this exact size: "ton."

The easiest and quickest way to upload everything to the iPad is via the Waltr2 computer application.

If there is not enough free space on the ipad, then join the discussions of external plug-in storage, whose applications can perform "Import to" or "Open in". For example  here

And the most convenient way - to store all the source content on a NAS like Synology, available locally and via the Internet wherever there is a Wi-Fi through their own free DS File iOS and Android application

Thanks...yes, before my windows based computer went down, I saved MOST of my music (around 25 Gig) on one of my thumb drives. I just recently purchased a new IPad Air 2 (128 G) so I could try using the new portable movie and audio software. I really like the portability and really don't want to have to replace the computer as well. The only thing I really miss is having a file system where I can keep my audio files. I downloaded the Documents app and that seems like it would give me the file structure to be able to access audio files to be used in LumaFusion. Just can't figure out a way to get the MP3 files off my thumb drive into my iPad into a folder that is accessible for me to use in my audio/video apps.
I just purchased the Apple lightning reader, but it takes video files directly into photo app but only from SD card, not thumb drive. Love the iPad but frustrating trying to import/export files.
On my windows system, I had a folder called My Music and I could simply drag and drop those files into any of my audio software. Was hoping to do the same with my IPad but finding it cumbersome if not impossible at this point. Kinda new with the Apple IOS, using windows since the Tandy came out!

Jimmy, if you want the flexibility of using a thumb drive or similar with iOS, you will need to opt for the likes of a Wifi Drive or Lightning drive that both have their own respective apps for accessing files. Wifi drives can also use generic transfer options such as SMB, DNLA, WebDav etc. so can work with other apps that support such connections like Documents 6, Filebrowser etc. but are normally a little slower to transfer to the iOS device than Lightning drives.

Wifi drive examples: ... wifi+drive ... wifi+drive

Lightning drive examples: ... ning+drive ... ning+drive ... ning+drive

Thanks Donka!
I will check out some of those links via Amazon via the US side. Thanks for the assistance. I am really liking LumaFusion so far. Just a bit cumbersome in getting audio set up and synced. I understand they are working on a number of audio improvements in a coming update, so looking forward to that. In the meantime I will come up with a better way of getting my audio files into my IPad.
Much appreciate everyone's assistance here!
