LumaFusion 2.0 is now available in the App Store. This is a massive new update that doubles the number of tracks for video and audio, streamlines the user interface, and much more.

All,

Last week I deviated from my tradition of posting tutorials and instead I posted a challenge.

The idea is to watch what I did and try to replicate it following the same guidelines that I used.
It is not very difficult and I though you may enjoy having a crack at it. I already posted a solution, so don't peek!

I got a nice response from my viewers with some of them posting videos (under #mverollingstickchallenge)
For me, having people thinking and using LumaFusion in ways that are not immediately evident, is awesome.

Enjoy!

Sorry I haven't time to make a video but instead of key framing every second couldn't you do this by placing the pivot point exactly centre frame, expanding the frame about 3x, then set rotation and position of the frame (not the object) at the start and end of the flip.

Hi Mark,

I know there are easier ways for doing this, but the point is the challenge, and figuring it out, not necessarily the practicality of the application.

In LumaFusion the anchor for the rotation of an asset is in the middle of that asset. I found a discussion a while ago about this topic and their conclusion was that there is no way to rotate an asset using a different anchor if that anchor is not in the middle of the screen.

I disagreed with the conclusion I took some time and proved that it can be done, or at least simulated. I liked that I had to come up with a method that takes advantage of keyframe interpolation for the calculation of the angle of rotation in every frame, making the positioning of every frame fast and easy with the help of a guideline.
That’s the reason why I made it into a challenge.
