This looks elaborate but try it if like me you use lots of clips and you're obsessed with matching the phrases/beat and the length of the music track (I hate it when video music just lamely peters out). It lets you sort out timing, clip choice, and most importantly the story line relatively quickly before you get lost in the detail. I'd be very happy to have suggestions.

1. Start a new project
2. Import or create an intro or title clip
3. Add a music track for your video
4. Position the music to start relative to the intro
5. Export this video to Photos *
6. Undo all or just start a new project
7. Import your intro/music video
8. Triple tap to move the audio to an audio track below
9. Select the video track again
10. From the start position the Play head at the next beat in the music
11. Cut the video track at this position (not the audio track)
12. Repeat for each beat or phrase in the music.
13. Count the number of segments you have and compare it with the number of clips available. If you think the lengths are not comparable now is a good time to consider cutting out or adding some music
14. Return to the start
15. Replace each segment of the video track after the intro with the desired clip. Drag it over the segment until it turns pink and choose "keep timeline duration". Be careful with this but it is quite fast
16. Use the same method to move clips to suit the video storyline or flow
17. Now edit each clip with the slip editor to choose the best section of the clip and use the clip editor to correct the details. Beware of changing speed. It's safer to first clone the clip to the track above.

" you have to add a video section of some sort to the music. Otherwise when you reimport it it will jump into the audio track

I like the idea of cutting segments and then using replace/keep-duration which is much faster than manually trimming.
