Hi,

I had to free up some space on my iPad Pro.
When I open a project in Luma Fusion, it warns me that I have to import the videos back again.
I promptly did so but i can't reconcile the app with the videos.

Is there any magical way to re-import and reconcile the videos without doing the editing again ?

Thanks.

Hi sebnoumea

The simple answer is no ..

.. because when you import items they are given a unique internal name by iOS

However (this may work 100% or just make it easier than a full re-edit)

Providing you know what each clip 'should' be tap on the insert/overwrite icon on the left (make the arrow point down)

and drag the original clip over the missing clip on your time line

That's how I would try it .. let me know how you get on

In a later release of the app you will be able to export and import the project, clips and all so you don't have to do this

I know it's a feature request so 'coming soon' is the best I can do :)

Well, no luck :( thanks anyway for your suggestion.
I've lost all my edits once and for all. Lesson learned.

Hello sebnoumea

The issue is in what you did to create the space on your iPad

If you deleted the LumaFusion app, then, unfortunately all your edits would be lost.

If you only deleted video clips that you imported into LumaFusion (from dropbox or google drive etc) then you should re-import the video and re-start LumaFusion. The edits should then work again.

As knobbydave says in his post, we will, in a future version, be able to archive and unarchive projects and media.

Hi,

I did not delete the app. I just moved the video files from my iPad photo library to my Mac and back again.

Hello sebnoumea

This is the problem, and knobbydave's comment about unique identifiers is true.

If the backup is added back into Photos, it will come in with a new unique ID and we have no way of knowing that it was previously used in LumaFusion from Photos. The only exception to this is media that is in iCloud Photo Library that gets auto-deleted by Photos but is still maintained with the same ID when downloaded again.

Sorry I can't be of more help

Hi Androum,

This is much clearer now. I was confused in your first message about the fact that I may have deleted the app. The issue is tied to Photos app.
This was one on my very best edit so far as I'm learning all the power of this app that I love more and more.

Does this limitation of identifiers that are lost when dealing with medias within Photos will go away with the future archiving capability ?

Seb

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea for me to set up a bin folder for each project on One Drive for all my editing!

Sometimes old fashioned directories/folders/bins are the best for organizing projects.

Hello sebnoumea

yes, that is a good idea.

There are a couple of iPad/iphone browsers that you can use that will also help. They are 'iexplorer' and 'imazing'. These apps live on your PC or mac.

The attached screen grab is of my LumaFusion folder structure as seen in iexplorer showing folders that were either imported into LumaFusion (googledrive and dropbox) or folders that I made ('direct from PremPro') and dragged .mov or .mp4 files into them.

Hope this helps you as you continue to work with LumaFusion.
