Post subject:  Cannot import .MP4 file

I have an odd issue. I have a .mp4 video file (highlighted as “Vortex”) that appears in my files section but it doesn’t want to import. I get no thumbnail and there’s a momentary circle (see picture). I can’t drag it to the timeline. The file opens in every application but not in Luma Fusion. I’ve tried three versions of the file (and even renamed them) to no avail. Any idea why that would be?

Hi Gerry

The simple answer is 'there's something odd about that one file' ... which doesn't help at all

It looks like you're able to get it onto the timeline

So, a couple of things to try

Try to 'Optimise' the project and see if that works

Start a new blank project and just put that one clip in it and see if you can export it

That doesn't actually answer your question as such, but it is what I would try

Alas neither suggestion worked. There must be some corruption in the file. I will try segmenting it via the iOS editor and see if that fixes it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yeah, I think you're right

How about if you duplicate the file and try the duplicate instead (unlikely I think)

How about you duplicate the file and in 'Photos' edit the length by a few frames

I’ve notice that Luma Fusion sees this file differently. The little white icons on the right side of the thumbnail raster show a speaker and a notepad while true video files appear with a film frame icon. I ended up opening the file in another program, trim off a few frames and resaved it. That worked.
