So far I figured that when exporting with the HEVC with Transparency codec, the solid and transparent areas are determined by:
* Title elements (shapes, text)
* Chroma Key (color keyed out becomes transparent)
* Luma Key
* Transparency of other imported videos with Transparency in the timeline
* Cropping

I haven’t gotten good results combining Blend Modes and HEVC with Transparency. What you see on the preview often is not what gets exported. Sometimes a blended top track appears solid after exporting with HEVC with Transparency
With that said, I got mixed results with Silhouette Luma, where luminosity affects transparency.

Did anyone try and got working results?
Is it something that is in the radar and will be addressed at some point?

Thanks,

MVE.

Great question!
It could open the door to creating incredible reusable assets with transparent background.
I was trying, for example, to create a lower third where a light streak moving from left to right would reveal the text.
