I am used to android where i can render videos or upload to youtube on the background showing progress on notifications but i am having issues with apple and its lack of options on ios how can i render lumafusion videos while being able to use the ipad for other things. like rendering a 30 minute 4k video then swipe screen to home so i can watch youtube while it renders in the background. and if not is it possible for lumafusion devs to get permission from apple to do this in the future

Edit 2: ‘sleep mode’ the other thing that you must be weary about is the iPad going to sleep after however minutes of inactivity. Find out how to keep the iPad still active say if you decide to take a break away from the iPad while it’s rendering.

Edit: it’s not exactly a ‘background’ render. Apple is more like a ‘split screen multitask’ edit. If you accidentally put LumaFusion into ‘background mode’ it stops the render process.

Yes but you have be careful not to accidentally close out LumaFusion. You need to use the split screen iPad feature and keep LumaFusion visibly active.

I successfully do the YouTube split screen at around the 0:28 mark
I purposely close out the split screen feature (@ 0:57 mark roughly ), and that terminates the render process (because luma is dumped into ‘background mode’)
@1:03 - there’s the LumaFusion render error message.

Note: yes, there’s still YouTube audio (the iPad screen recorder simply doesn’t record audio initially for however many seconds).

I suggest creating a smaller sized project and testing the upload/render while YouTubing.

Edit: More importantly, make sure to do a test render of your desired project to ensure the output is exactly how you want. I tried exporting a vid to YouTube in landscape 16:9 format from LumaFusion and it cuts off the top and bottom with black bars. The video that you see in the above link is uploaded via YouTube directly.

Here’s the LumaFusion upload: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbCXFLA ... e=youtu.be

sorry but nothing you said was of any help on answering if lumafusion can do background render, all you suggest is split screen which I already knew. what i want is for lumafusion to render and upload without having the app open full screen i rather have the app open but in the background while rendering my long videos

Actually what I posted clearly answered the question "if luma can do background rendering"

1. I mentioned (and posted a video) specifying that if luma is diverted to background mode, the rendering process stops.
In other words, LumaFusion can’t do background rendering.

2. The vid link @1:03 - 1:04 mark prompts an error message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi7wvIV ... e=youtu.be
Export write error - export cancelled because app suspended. Keep app in foreground when exporting. (2.2.3.1111)
In other words, LumaFusion can’t do background rendering.

3. You wanted to render a 30 minute vid while watching YouTube. [Edit: ** my short test vid ** ]Vid prompted error message, thus I made a suggestion to go split screen.

Do I wish apple apps allowed background rendering? Absolutely. iMovie is an Apple specific product and even it does not allow background rendering.
