hello community,
because my projects involve a lot of dialogue editing I need to hear what is happening while scrubbing a clip or timeline. Am I overlooking this option. If this is not possible I hope it will come in a future version. It is essential for my work.

I also think that audio scrubbing is important

Thanks for your quick reply Dave.

Are there more users who edit to a greater extend by ear and can support audioscrubbing as a feature request?

Is it technically feasable whithout compromizing robustness?

It's already in as a feature request

along with dozens and dozens .... and dozens .... of others :D

as someone once said

In The Wrath of Khan (1982), Spock says, “Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” Captain Kirk answers, “Or the one.”

(But he didn't mention the size of the team or the complexities needed to program everything)

But yeah, it's on the list and I would find a use for it too

I understand it is difficult to implement all requests or even part of them without compromising robustness.
I am very happy with the program and impressed how direct and responsive it is.
Just spended quite some time editing with final cut which painfully revealed the increasing difficulty my ageing computer has to keep up wit things. (aka a lot of thumb twiddling and coffeebreaks :D )
for deliverance
Thanks again for clarifying this. I am happy it is not my ignorance. I have looked quite a fool the past few days. Prodding my iPad in unfashionable exploration hoping for deliverance :D
I can now enjoy the peace of mind to focus on all the good things that are already there.

Add my voice as one of the "many" asking for this feature.

I cut talking head/conference presentations and webinars and the audio scrubbing is important for me to cut out ums, uhs, and flubs.

Thanks,

This wouldn't even work with the new jog wheel change that has made editing impossible for me.

Otherwise my understanding is that reverse scrubbing of audio would require the files be uncompressed audio. So a wav or aiff or one of the lossless formats. Real time backward scrubbing in particular is the issue. With this mind i'd think the project videos would have to be saved and converted before those kind of audio edits are possible.

That's what i've seen with scrubbing audio anyway. The Mac doesn't offer reverse scrubbing either in compressed formats.

Now if while they add this "feature" they can fully support core audio at 48 and 96k so my audio can stay at mastered levels until i choose to encode them at a high bitrate that would be great!

I have asked for it myself. It is a pretty basic editing feature.

But how difficult is it to do in iOS I wonder?

Anybody know?
