Post subject:  Thumbnails bugs with Panasonic G9 10 bits HLG files

Hi !

With the 2.0 firmware upgrade the Panasonic Lumix G9 camera could now record 10bits 4:2:2 HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) video !
I tried these files in Lumatouch and it could handle them almost perfectly despite the warning saying that "this clip is not fully supported with iOS and may cause crash or problems".
But there are still issues with the video preview thumbnails as you could see on the following screen shot, it is like the HLG curve is not applied and the images are displayed very overexposed and with distorted colors !
But the preview window display the video perfectly and the exported footage is also ok !

How are the colors in the exported movie? In experience Panasonic HLG files end up with wrong color balannce (lacking red, too much blue) unless carefeully corrected with suitable LUT. Can you compare the color of HLG vs standard REC 709 8 bit files edited with Luma.

This behaviour is not due to LF and has been reported to Apple
