A release today from the respected supply chain analyst Hsin-Hsin Ming reveals a number of significant features coming to LumaFusion 3. These include group selection, speed ramping and stabilisation. Along with these improvements a major new capability will also be introduced for drone enthusiasts.

A frequently requested feature, multi-select and copy/paste will allow users to select multiple clips in the timeline and copy and paste or drag into a new position. Multi-select will also allow the application of effects to several clips with one tap.

Speed ramping and effect acceleration/deceleration will be available in the clip editor in version 3. The exact implementation is as yet unknown but it is believed that this will be available for all effects and in a surprise move will be accessible with Siri.

Stabilisation was announced as coming to LumaFusion 2 but has not yet been released. It is believed that there have been significant difficulties stabilising the stabilisation. In an effort to distract users from this omission the LumaFusion team has announced major compatibility improvements with FCP/Premiere Pro even though this is likely irrelevant for many users. Stabilisation will however finally be released with version 3.

Markers were introduced in LumaFusion 2 but were a disappointment for many being effectively unusable for marking music beats. This feature is to undergo a significant improvement in version 3 with markers displayed on the timeline. Previously they were only visible on the preview bar where they could be too crowded to be useful. A button will also be added to jump to the next/previous marker.

LumaFusion 3 will also feature compatibility with iOS Shortcuts which will allow users to preassemble multi-clip projects using parameters for clip length and transitions. A limited version of LumaFusion will also be available to Shortcuts as a video editing action.

In a major new feature for drone users LumaFusion 3 will enable "editing as you fly". With the introduction of a separate live window drone pilots will have access to instant application of titles and clip effects including speed changes and even reverse.

In addition to these major enhancements numerous smaller improvements are likely in version 3. These include preview time displays and waveforms that are actually readable, 24 bit audio, keyframe selection and direct export to Polynuts Pro.

LumaFusion 3 is expected to be released on April 1 2020. We are certain that readers of MacGrimmace Now will be keenly anticipating these changes and look forward to bringing you further updates as they come to light.

After reading your first sentence, I immediately zoomed up to the top of my MacBook to see the date - nope... not April Fools.

And now typing this reply, I see the April 1st mention at the bottom:>

A+ for effort, dude! (Although changing the leaker's name to Phool Mi Wonce would have been the icing on the cake).

Perhaps,

However, this 'leak' read to me as so plausible and well thought through that I believe it could be a reasonable description of LumaFusion road-map.

No inside information here! It was just a bit of fun but probably does reflect my personal wishes. Maybe not drone integration :D
