Hi Guys,

I've been working on a 2 minute project. Now I notice that there are two clips which I would like to stabilise. I do have another tool on my iPad, so what's the best way to do this.

Is there any way that I can share the selected clip with the stabilise tool and save it back to the timeline or do I need to identify the clip, find it in the files ab, stabilise is, save it as a new clip and replace the current one?

Thanks, Carsten

Hi Carsten

You can't do what you're after at the moment

The Developers want to add stabilisation but at the moment there is no release planned. They added it to the Beta a while back, but it was even removed from that because it was not reliable/good enough quality

There are a few threads on here about what apps other people use for stabilisation and how they do it

Deshake and Emulsio seem to be the two apps that most people use

I know it's not supported in the App and I already have Emulsio on my iPad. I was just looking for the best workflow.

This is a bit messy but I think does what you want. With DeShake you can select from Files.

In your LumaFusion timeline find the name of the clipboard want to stabilise.
In Deshake open this from On My iPad / LumaFusion / LibraryMedia / PhotoLibrary.
After stabilising Export to Clouds: On My iPad / LumaFusion / UserMedia.
Back in LumaFusion grab the stabilised clip (now called DeShaken...) from Imported and use it to replace your clip in the timeline

This workflow avoids using the Photos app and it is easier to find your clip.
DeShake is a bit clunky but does a good job stabilising safely ( I usually just go straight to 100%).
In fact I often just use DeShake’s batch processing to stabilise all the clips shot on my phone, save to Files, then use a Shortcut to share via an archive to LumaFusion my iPad

I posted this yesterday but it seems to have never gone through.

I use Emulsio and Deshake for stabilization and this is my workflow (it's still evolving).

1) I add the original non-stabilized clip to my timeline as a placeholder.
2) Once the timeline is finished (or finished for the day), I'll tag the clips that need stabilization.
3) The tagged clips are then stabilized (in either app) and saved as a new file in a "stabilized" folder (or in photos).
4) I then import the new stabilzed clips, trim them to the same length as the originals.
5) Add them to the timeline in the track above the original and use the slip tool to match the frames to the original.

I find that sometimes the stabilization introduces wierd video aritifacts and I revert to the original, this is an easy way to switch back to the original.

I’ve been stabilizing on my PC withe Mercalli SAL 4 just because the quality of the stabilization is so much better. Instead of just stabilizing on the XY axis and maybe some rotation (3 axis) it does 6 axis with tilt compensation and CMOS distortion correction.

I’ve been using my computer for background audio noise reduction as well. Yes, there are IOS tools to do all these things. I have them all. But they simply don’t do as good a job yet.

Good info Vidiot

Mercalli SAL 4 sounds like a great program. Hopefully one day the iPad will be able to do the same
