All,

If you go to Help->Cleanup, there is an Automatic Cache Cleanup Settings option.
The title of this option is Auto-Cleanup Unused Media.

I'm assuming this works as the manual Cleanup Unused Cached Media option, and will clean up unused data from the PhotoLibrary Folder but on a schedule or something along those lines.

Any idea how and when does this work?

Thank you,

MVE

PS: Kudos to the LumaTouch team! I'm loving the new layout.

Don’t know myself but will certainly be interested because I regularly delete the files in the Files app. KnobbyDave can probably answer this?

Waited over 24 hours. Completely closed and reopened LumaFusion. My unused media is still there.

Nope, didn’t know the answer to that one

But here it is:

‘Terri at Luma Touch
When the project is deleted and there is no more reference to the media that was automatically imported by “Drag to timeline” import, then it is auto deleted if the button is turned on for that source’

Dave,

Thank you for following up on this!

I understand Terri’s response but I believe the Auto-Cleanup Unused Media feature is not currently working properly.

I tried the following scenario in 2 different devices, with the same result:

1. Verified that Automatic Cache Cleanup Settings has the Photos option selected.

2. Created a LumaFusion project.

3. Selected the Photos Source.

4. Selected All Photos and Videos and dragged a clip to the timeline.

5. Verified that a copy of the clip was added to the PhotoLibrary folder.

6. Clicked on the Projects button.

7. Deleted the project.

8. Verified and the copy of the clip previously added to the PhotoLibrary folder was still there.
9. Verified again more than a day later.

I’m preparing a video about File Management in LumaFusion 2.0 and I would like to make sure that I’m getting the facts right.

Looks like this is a bug that I assume will be fixed at some point, and in the meantime the workaround would be to perform a manual cleanup every once in a while to prevent the PhotoLibrary folder from growing due to unused data not being deleted.

Is there anyway you could help confirm that, or correct me if I’m getting something wrong?

I really would appreciate your help. Thanks,

MVE

Hi In7ermaster,

This is definitely a bug. We are properly cleaning up media when you remove clips from the timeline (delete clip or drag from timeline), but we aren't cleaning up media when a project is deleted. I've entered bug LF-4658 for this and we'll likely fix this for the 2.0.2 update.

Thanks very much for your feedback.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for responding.
Allow me to take this opportunity and congratulate you and the LumaTouch team on an amazing update.

LumaFusion is changing the way people work and think about video editing. You are making a real difference!

Going back to the unforgiving world of bugs, I also noticed that when you drag a clip on top of another and replace it, the replaced clip, that is no longer in the project, remains in the PhotoLibrary folder. I hope this helps.

Thanks again,

MVE
