I think the reason I'm getting compatibility error notices with some of my imported files is that my iPad Air does not support 4K display of 4K video. Would this be correct? Should I be concerned about that or just go ahead and edit? I am concerned about the app crashing mid edits.

Tell us a bit more about the footage and what the error messages say

You might want to set the preview mode to ‘fastest’ with an Air. This will be lower quality while editing (but faster) but will not affect the output quality

"This clip is not fully compatible with ios..." Is the message I get when I click on a video clip that has that tiny exclamation mark in a triangle symbol on it. So far it seems to be 4K videos that bring up the warning.

What are you shooting the footage with?

Pixel 3. I started using Handbrake as a go-between to ensure a constant 24fps.

Do you get the message if you don’t use handbrake?

I got the message all the time when I didn't use Handbrake. I figured it an issue with the framerate. From what I have experienced so far it seems LumaFusion has issues with variable framerate, imported video file not being the same framerate as the project (my Pixel 3 struggles to lock in 24fps using FiLMic Pro), and more recently I'm suspecting an issue with 4K video.

... this won't fix it ...

Can you shoot some footage at a frame rate that your Pixel 3 and Filmic can handle without it varying?

Do you get the message then?

OK so I discovered if I switch the Pixel 3 to Airplane mode I can get pretty solid 24 fps. I can't tell if that's 24fps VBR or CBR, the resulting files say something like 24.00873 fps. I tried 1080p, 2K and 4K recordings direct import, no Handbrake conversion. 1080p video no error message, 2K and 4K I get the error message. So again I think it's merely that the iPad Air display is not capable of showing 2K or 4K video. However, the videos still works in LumaFusion. I'm just curious if 2K or 4K will crash the app on my iPad Air.

Okay, I can't say this with a 100% certainty, but it's not something that I would expect to crash the project

It's just a warning message - iOS doesn't handle all file formats

Some people may now chime in and say 'well I use 'so and so' app and it plays just fine and I don't get a message' - well that's because that particular app isn't programmed to generate a message

What is the frame size, bit rate - 2k, 4K etc can have differences
