Post subject:  Any update on 10bit support?

iOS is officially supporting 10bit 4k HEVC content (e.g. on the iPad Pro and upper level iPhone devices), hence I was wondering when we can expect support in LumaFusion. Currently, it is not possible to export 10bit 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 content, which is very much an issue for some of us.

More and more devices support 10bit recording (e.g. the GH5, X-T3, upcoming A7SIII etc), hence it would REALLY help. :)

On a side note: I have also submitted a request for higher bitrates. iOS does not yet support 200 nor 400Mbit, which does prevent editing semi professional content (if you also require higher bitrates, please leave your feedback as well @ https://www.apple.com/feedback/ The more imput the better ) :)

I have tried to import 10 bit 422 HEVC format via sd card reader but it s failed.
8 bit 420 HEVC is ok.
Also, the attached capture is all the h264 format I tested for my GH5.
Waiting apple to get back to the right track...

The strange thing is that 10bit is supported within iOS. 10bit 4:2:0 for sure . Could you try that instead of 4:2:2?
The visual difference between 10bit 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 is almost neglectable. Apart from that, many devices don't support 4:2:2.

Nevertheless, even if 4:2:2 isn't supported, LumaFusion could support editing and exporting it. :)

Can’t help, there s no 10 bit 420 shooting with GH5.
I can edit 10 bit 422 in lumafusion for sure but after wasting tons of time on forwarding the videos by wd passport wifi or similar method.

No worries! Thanks anyhow.
Why would you edit 10bit 4:2:2 content if you cannot export it? Exporting will currently result in 8bit content. :-(

The color grading result is different between 8 bit 420 and 10 bit 422 although I export it in 420.
Because I use the footage as a backup for premiere project in my desktop after I have some quick edit output for other purpose.

So I was looking for quite a while on how to transfer my V-Log 4K 10bit 4:2:2 footage to my 10.5” iPad Pro.
I wanted to use it in my Lumafusion workflow. Due the photo app it won’t transfer, even with Apple SD card reader USB 3.0.
Google Drive or Dropbox were other options, but they took a long time to upload, download and only due PC or other devices.
But as soon as iPad OS beta came out (iOS 13), I found a way to transfer it with the Files app.

I made a video on how to, so if you share the same problem, it could be helpfull to you.
Please note that this will only work with the iPad OS beta, since the Files app has very low restrictions!
