I tried to find this in the manual - no luck...

To keep my storage optimized, I am looking to delete imported files.

Can you show me how to do this?

Also, is it possible to create a shortcut to list imported files... check off the ones I wanted to be deleted... then confirm deletion.

See page 37 of the LumaFusion Reference Guide

You can select multiple file by tapping on one file, highlight the check mark icon, tap on the other files, and then tap on the trash can icon in the INFO window. I'm still using version 1.6 so this may differ slightly in 1.7.

Note: If you have lots of files to delete, it’s easier to open the Files app. Go to On My iPad- LumaFusion- UserMedia and delete individual files or complete folders. Don’t worry about deleting subfolders in the UserMedia folder, LumaFusion will recreate the folders the next time you import media files. Be careful not to delete files that you are currently using in a project.

Hi

First delete the project that contains the media you wish to delete
Go to the imported folder
Tap to select the clip to delete
Tap info
Tap the Delete Clip bin

Or

Start the Files App
Tap on my iThing
Tap Luma Fusion
Tap User Media
Select what you want to delete

I think the checkbox feature is missing in 1.7.834. Instead of a checkbox, the page with arrow darting into it remains. That is what is throwing me off. Can someone else verify this?

No, multiple select is there on that version, just look for the single tick mark on the bottom left of the panel with the clips, click that and then select all the clips you want!

Do you lose the markers that you’ve set in your imported videos doing so? If yes, can the markers somehow be backed up? If no, will they just reappear when you import again? And: what would be the requirements for the reimport? (same filename, same footage, length, encoding...?)

Thanks,
Christoph

Hi Christoph

Blimey, that thread is two years old! :o

The best way to back up a project is as a LumaFusion Project Package

That will include everything and markers, colours etc

You can chose full or trimmed media

Have a look in the reference guide for more info

Great, thanks Dave! :)

But what if I have 20 source footage files let's say of a hike, I've tagged all the sweet spots, then I only used 10 of those hike source footage files in my project. But wan to use the other hike files potentially in the future, for a "year overview" project, yet delete the files in between, so I can edit other videos before the year end.

Is it possible to delete the hike video files to free up space, but then still have the markers when I reimport them later for the year end video?

Or do I have to go through all the footage again to tag the sweet spots again?

If you export the project you can then store that project off your iThing - I use a NAS and Gnarbox to store mine but it can now be an external drive etc

You could then, if you wanted, delete LumaFusion (hope you don't) which will delete everything within LF

If you then deleted the media that was stored outside of LF so everything was gone, when you install a fresh blank, empty LF and re import the project you will bring all media and markers back in as a project and you can continue working on it 6 months later if you like

I've not convinced myself that's what you were asking me though
