(whoops posted before in wrong section)

Ok, I'm surprised I havent seen anyone else complaining about this yet, but after updating the app on my Ipad mini, Luma Fusion is giving me problems..

I updated the app before going flying yesterday...

After importing my Maviic Pro 4k drone from the card to my iPad mini, I was able to run Luma and see the video thumbnails that i just uploaded... When I clicked them however I got the spinning icon instead of a preview... That didnt go away after 5 mins when I gave up (these clips are less than 2 minutes long)... And I couldnt do anything with those videos...

So, I tried a bunch of things numerous times...
--- Checked to make sure Luma had access to my photo/video albums (it does)
--- Uninstalled Luma and reinstalled it. (no change)
--- Deleted and re-imported the new video clips (no change)
--- Checked video clips i had used in the past successully (they do not open now)
--- Checked my ipad storage space (i have over 70 gig free)
--- Powered off the iPad and restarted (no change)
--- and went thru the list above with every new step - just in case....

Nothing worked... So my guess at this point is that the new software update has a new bug, or got nerfed to NOT work with the Mavic 4k video files anymore... (which would suck since Luma was the best tool to use for those files - even over Adobe Premiere and iMovie)

I sent a message to customer support this morning, but its Sunday and I dont expect to hear back from them today... So I figured I'd post here to see if any of you are experiencing the same problems, and maybe have a fix that I haven't already tried, so i can finish my edit today while I have time on a weekend...

Thank you
-=James

Hello,
first of all...really great app, I love it on my iPad!

But now I have the same problem with my 4K 10bit footage from my Lumix GH5,
James described.
Worked pretty good on my 9,7" iPad Pro before the latest firmware update.
I see the thumbnails, but no replay anymore, only the spinning icon in the preview window.
If I drag 4k 10bit footage direct into the the timeline it looks like this (see screenshot),
doesn‘t work either.
BTW. „Normal“ 8bit 4K footage 30/60fps works as usual, no problem with that material.

Hopefully there‘s any solution. Editing V-Log 4k 10bit material with Luts on the iPad is pretty cool!

cheers
Stephan

Thanks Stephan, I get that same window with the weird email/double mountain icon if I switch to the timeline visual...

I saw in the upgrade description that "LumaFusion now uses the current (edited) version of a photo or video from the iPhotos app whenever possible. The Only time it uses the original are for images with transparency and slo-mo video clips"

I think that new "feature" is what screwed us up... iPhoto on my iPad has never been able to browse the 4k footage (there is no slo-mo or transparency in my footage so that part is not relevant here)... It is one of the reasons I like LumaFusion - it was the only way to browse drone footage that I just shot...

Still haven't heard anything from tech support... But i am glad I'm not the only one having this problem...

I also never couldn‘t preview 4k 10bit footage in the Camera Roll on my iPad,
so I was even more happy that LumaFusion did it.

But a kind of „solution“ (just tested it) is, copy the footage direct into the „UserMedia“ folder
of LumaFusion (with the iOS file manager) and open it from there. Via drag and drop, that may help.

Doesn‘t work with my 10bit 4k Files (get an error message from iOS that I couldn’t copy the file), but works with all other files.

But I found out that I also could copy files with the help of the app „iConv“ (video & audio converter)
into the UserMedia folder, or directly send the files to LumaFusion. That seems to work with my 10bit stuff.

Maybe that helps you a bit James...no perfect solution...but better than nothing ;)

cheers

Oooh, I didnt know iPad had a file manager, but apparently there are quite a few... I will definitely keep this in my back pocket in case Luma tech support doesnt come thru for me...

Thank you!

Had a response... Claimed it could be an audio issue.. Not likely since no audio exists on my 4K Footage. They have asked me to send a copy of video for them to look at.. They sent a link of a support inbox but can’t seem to share via it. Sent the video to support

I’m having the same issue on my iPhone 7. Holding off on updating my iPad until this issue is resolved.

Hello kif_kat

Just want everyone to know that we are looking into this issue. It isn't anything that came up in testing (and I personally test a lot going back and forth between 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 and never had this sort of an issue).

I'm curious kif_kat, are you saying that if you copy your 4K clips from the Photos app to the UserMedia folder, that the clips become active again in LumaFusion?

regards

Androu Morgan
