How might I achieve a transparent font (zero face color) with just the outline of the font showing?
Thanks in advance.

John,

First add your video that you want to use. Then add title overlay and change the text, font to what you need. Next make face color green. Change edge color or size to what you want except green. Then go to color and effects and choose chroma key. Key out the green color and all you are left with is the outline you requested. Hope this helps.

Hi Bubsiec

Great way of doing it and great description of how to do it too!

Or just add the text and lower the face opacity to 0! No need to mess with chroma keying. Way quicker and cleaner approach. ;)

Donka,

Yes you can do it that way which is faster, but he mentions zero value. When keying you remove everything. With 0 opacity it still has a color value. Which ever way he achieves the same. :D

Thanks to all for your great suggestions. Because of the versatility of Luma Fusion I continue to find multiple solutions to the same problem. (Re: Some old adage about skinning cats.) Good excuse to mess around with the Chroma Key feature.

I recently posted a video showing how to add Transparent Text in LumaFusion while keeping a background shape behind it:

When applying Chroma Key to a Title, it hides any elements in the title having the color being keyed out, however it will also hide any element, or part of an element behind the element being keyed out.
In this video I'm using this property to place transparent text on top of a shape. The same effect is also used to reshape a rectangle by hiding parts of it.

I hope this helps.
