Could you perhaps go through each source clip and make a new video of all your selections. Then export and use that as your new source. You would of course have to select parts or cut it in the timeline .
Alternatively perhaps keep all your cuts on the timeline and then drag them up to to the next track to make that the new video. You might have to use overwrite instead of insert timing and color coding might be useful to easily spot your original sources.
I’m sorry I don’t understand the problem with the preview retaining the previous selection. Can’t you just resume viewing at the previous out point and then move the in/out points when you find the next bit you want? You can even do this dynamically with the buttons without stopping the preview playing.
Yes it would be easier if you could export or bin parts of a clip or project but these are some ideas. Sorry if I’ve misunderstood
I actually was playing around with Lumafusion last night (I have just upgraded my Ipad) and thought about putting the smaller clips in one of the timelines as a holder for when i need later as you mentioned. You can individually name them too which i believe is new from the last time i tested out Lumafusion (before, i believe if you renamed the cut clip, it renamed the origina clip too) Also something new i believe is that when you go back to your original clip (where you have already produced a shorter cut clip), you can access the whole clip without moving the brackets to include the whole clip. I believe before, you could only play within the brackets.
So, I appreciate the direction Lumafusion is heading ... they have fixed some of the naggging things that forced me to not use it.
But i have to be brutally honest here. The suggestion I wrote about originally is basically a COMMON feature of video editing software, and I shouldn’t have to do work around to do a basic common task. I know that sounds snarky but i don’t mean it to be ... but its just true.
I was actually shocked that something like that was was not a feature already when i bought Lumafusion. What shocks me more is that there isn’t 50 replies already “+1”ing my thread in agreement. Am I the only one that finds Lumafusion almost unusable without the ability to pre-cut all my clips, tag them, and store them later for a quick and easy workflow? Its already hard enough dealing with IOS file management system and all the quirks and workarounds you have to deal with that.
