I just want to ensure that this is not a bug, as I am having an issue with adding a fade-in at the beginning of my video.

The playhead is at the very start of my video on the timeline. I select the quick add + button and select Transition. Nothing happens. Or in other words, there is no fade-in transition added to the start of the video.

Now, I move the playhead to the very end of the video on the timeline. I select the quick add + button and select Transition, and a fade-out transition is added to the end of the video.

So, the exact same process in both cases, but only the fade-out appears to function.

There are, however, certain ways that I was able to add a fade-in to the beginning of the video:

a) I add a blank clip before the start of the video through the quick add + button. I then move the playhead between the blank clip and the video and I am able to add a fade-in transition through the quick add + button.

b) I move the playhead slightly onto the beginning of the video and I am able to add a fade-in transition through the quick add + button.

In conclusion, maybe the above two options is how it is to be done, and there is no bug after all. But again, I find it curious that a fade-out can be added when the playhead is at the end of the video, but that a fade-in can't (or isn't) being added to the beginning of the video when the playhead is at the start.

Hello PresidentJade

I would call that a bug.

You can also drag a dissolve to the clip on the timeline from the transition library.
