How can I make a transition, such as the Burst overlap an entire image or video rather than simply transition into it. See attached for example. In my case, the burst will happen before the image and slightly trasition into it, but I would like more overlap of the two items so that the burst is really happening on top of an image until the last 2 seconds.

Tap on the burst transition on your timeline (the purple bit) and drag it to the right

You can increase or decrease the length of the transition

(You can also set a longer default length in settings if you want)

Thanks for you support.

However, When I do that, it really just overwrites the image - it doesn't delete it, but you cannot see the image behind when I drag it all the way to the right. For example. the image displays for about 4 seconds before I place the burst in, but once I place the burst, and drag it over for 3.5 seconds, I get the burst for 3.5 seconds and the image beneath for .5 seconds.

Hello Rose

That's a good suggestion knobbydave, I was going to suggest that too.

But of course transitions are about getting from one image to another and so that might not be quite what is wanted here, plus we don't have any user controls with our transitions other than duration.

Why not try something like this (see my screen grab and download the presets)
You will have to tweak it a bit, but you get the idea

Hello Rose

If you are looking at this post on your iPad or iPhone, then do a tap and hold on the preset in this post.
On the pop up menu tap 'open'
Then on the next screen tap 'Open in LumaFusion'
Do that for each one.

You will find the presets in the favorites of 'Color and Effects', 'Frame and Fit' and 'Titles'

Is there a forum area where people post custom effects they've created? I'd like to check more out!
