Hi,

I am having performance issues with two files in my project. After about 10 sec of playback the picture are freezing. I have trimmed out about 3 min of each file. The files are made from a huge file with Handbrake, and imported from Dropbox.

Info on the two files:

File 1:
Video: H.268 at 2,8 MBits/som
Resolution: 1280 x 712
Aspect: 1.80:1
Timing: 17:43.02 at 30 fps
Audio: AAC at 48.0 kHz (stereo)

File 2:
Video: H.268 at 2,5 MBits/som
Resolution: 1280 x 710
Aspect: 1.80:1
Timing: 39:29.10 at 25 fps
Audio: AAC at 48.0 kHz (stereo)

Also, a big thumb up for LumaFusion so far!

Per-Otto

Hi Per-Otto

You say your files are H.268

LumaFusion/Apple support

Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 4K, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.2 with AAC‑LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio or Dolby Audio up to 1008 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo or multichannel audio, in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG‑4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC‑LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio or Dolby Audio up to 1008 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo or multichannel audio, in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M‑JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

Is that your problem?

I have to admit I'm no expert at this (or anything  )

Is it a typo or can you encode them differently with handbrake?

No problem

Sorry Per-Otto, that's the limit of my help on this one

Except, if I was having a similar problem I might try encoding one of the files in a different format

Hello everyone

what was the source video file (file type)?

what preset did you use in handbrake?

what modifications did you make to the preset in handbrake?

It's just these two clips that are giving you trouble?

regards

androu

This was the original files:

1:
Captured with a GoPro:
Extension: .mp4
Video codec: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
Audio codec: mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
Preset in handbrake "iPad", and I made no modifications to it.

2:
Captured with a Zoom audio/video recording device of some kind.
Extension: .mov
Video codec: H.264
Audio codec: mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
Preset in handbrake "iPad", and I made no modifications to it.

(I can give you a link to them, but I prefer not to post that in public.

Also having performance issues, taking 1080p 30fps footage direct from my GoPro and the app stutters and becomes unuseable which just one clip. Pinnacle and iMovie all handle the same footage with no issues. I'm on an iPad Pro so my device should be up to par. Thinking about just asking for a refund until they flesh this out a bit more. This app is everything I want out of a mobile editor but lacks optimization.....

Update, interesting thing I just found. If I have the timeline zoomed out so I can see multiple clips is when I take the performance hit, if I zoom in it plays fine. This is an issue as I would need to see an overview of my time line to add transitions etc.

did even more testing, when I use the Ipad pro in portrait mode I get even better performance however it still takes 10 or 15 seconds to play a clip once I hit play but it stutters less. Seems to be an issue with how the interface scales and is causing performance issues. I think for now I will go with a refund as $20 for software I can't use is hard to swallow. Back to pinnacal!

Hi Bcaton144

That's weird - and just the sort of thing the developers need reporting

Sorry you're having problems though and I can't help you fix them

The only advice I can give you regarding whether LumaFusion or Pinnacle is this:

Pinnacle is probably unlikely to be developed any further (not saying it's a bad app - I've still got a copy). In the format it is in I doubt that it can or will be pushed much more

LumaFusion is only on it's first release version and there is much, much more to come

I am not a developer, but I am a beta tester

With later versions of LumaFusion it is likely to cost more too as I believe it is (or was) on offer in the States

Now I'm not suggesting $20 is easy money and clearly the app won't do what you want - at the moment

Although this Christmas thing has got (gotten?) in the way the developers are starting to push Beta's out again already

So maybe stick around a bit longer?

And ... an iPad Pro ... I'm jealous!!

Just my £1 ($1.23)'s worth
